In a 7 p.m. online session for Creative Arts Workshop, Christine McCarthy, the Yale Library Center’s director of preservation and conservation, imparts “ways to adapt professional strategies from libraries and archives to care for and organize your family papers, photographs and most prized objects to minimize the risks for damage and deterioration.” Register here.

Friday, January 14
At noon over Zoom, the latest in the Yale Lectures in Late Antique and Byzantine Art and Architecture series features Ann Marie Yasin of the University of Southern California discussing “Architectural Restoration and the Sensory Experience of Time in Late Antiquity.” Register here.

Jazzy’s Cabaret (4 Orange St, New Haven; 203-444-2509; $44.06 with fees) hosts a 7 p.m. Jazz in the City! dinner and show featuring chef Stephen J. Ross’s eclectic menu and The Morris Trent Band.

Saturday, January 15
Collaborative brewery The Beeracks (250 Bradley St, East Haven) is throwing member Armada Brewing a fifth birthday bash. The party starts at 2 p.m., when, alongside the rest of the menu, numerous special limited drafts will be pouring “while kegs last.” Then the volume turns up at 6, with live music from Samsara, Lighthouse, Cardinal Light and Strawberry Cheesecake.

Sunday, January
The Peabody remains closed for major renovations, but its 26th Annual Celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s Legacy of Social and Environmental Justice marches on. Events on Thursday, Friday and earlier today lead to a virtual “Z Experience Poetry Jam” at 6 p.m. “Join influential poet-performers Croilot and Ngoma as they emcee an electrifying spoken word experience,” organizers say, including a curated open mic featuring local performers followed by “a slate of renowned, featured poets from all over the country, including Lorraine Currelley, Robert Gibbons, Bao Phi, and Ray Jane.” Register here.
