Chainsaws and chisels, sanders and drills, brushes and water bottles and at least one clothing iron were some of the tools six ice sculptors used to craft Christmas joy last Sunday on Broadway Island. Convened by The Shops at Yale and drawing hundreds of viewers, they started at noon with 900 pounds of block ice and finished at 4 with a stylized reindeer, a smiling snowman, ursines bearing gifts, naturalistic forest creatures and two views of Santa.
