Fog is a nocturnal creature, or at least a very early bird. It emerges, usually, in the deepest dark of morning, then retreats into hiding shortly after sunrise. If you’re not on its schedule, you’ll miss it, especially if you want to photograph it, which takes some time.
Luckily, yesterday’s fog arrived early and stayed late. Sometime before 3 a.m., it had already shrouded the city. And it was a little after 6 when, with camera cocked and fingers crossed, I made for high ground and met a mist that lingered on.
