August: when the most relaxing season of the year achieves its deepest state of calm; when the leaves on the trees ripen to their richest greens; and when we at Daily Nutmeg turn our gaze to things we didn’t write.
Starting next week, it’s our second annual Summer Reading Month, highlighting intriguing authors and works with strong local ties. In addition to our usual Monday to-dos, each Tuesday we’ll profile a writer, then excerpt relevant works the rest of the week.
This year’s author list includes a seasoned fictionist tackling a new genre, a major award-winner with major humility, an expat who just can’t quit the Elm City and a curator by day, creator by night. The bibliography, meanwhile, includes a noir anthology set in the city, genre-bending sci-fi, timely history and poetry that really goes for it.
Please enjoy, and as always, feel free to let us know what you think—
