Making a plan to celebrate Mother’s Day? Maybe we can help.
Here’s an idea or eight: Bring Mom to a quaint kite fly at a quaint beach. Enjoy a bird walk or an ArtWalk together. Create a hanging flower basket. Sweat some Pilates with a mimosa bar reward. Meet a beloved children’s author for story time and a craft. Risk an adult comedy night. Make candles at a micro winery themed after a time when candles were extremely precious.
Speaking of wine, Rose Vineyards in North Branford holds a Saturday festival “filled with local craft vendors, live music, and seasonal food specials, all set against the beauty of the vineyard in bloom.” Stappa Vineyard in Orange paints a picture of what its Sunday will be like: “wine in hand, live music in the air, and a day filled with local shopping, sweet treats, and vineyard vibes.” So does Rosabianca in Northford: “a relaxing afternoon filled with great wine, beautiful views, and local favorites” (a seafood truck and a honey cake bakery).
“Delicious crêpes…, sparkling mimosas and live music in a beautiful museum setting” is the promise of a rare brunch at the Peabody. Almost as novel may be a dreamy meal at Prince Tea House, a high-tea wonderland celebrating its first Mother’s Day in New Haven with a special prix fixe menu and its always-special signature tea service. Brunches, buffets and special menus abound, at Amarante’s Sea Cliff, Anthony’s Ocean View, Casanova, Cumin, Gioia, The Loop by Hachiroku, the Madison Beach Hotel, Olea, Pacífico, Sherkaan and others.
Holiday menus can also be found at Nolla Wellness and Ripple Float and Wellness, each offering Mother’s Day packages, while the massage specialists at Elm City Wellness are offering $5 off every $50 of gift card you buy for Mom (or, technically, anyone else). In Branford, Rain Wellness Spa hasn’t clearly announced any specials, but reviews suggest it’s also a worthy place to be pampered.
Of course, anything that needs booking should be booked right away. Mother’s Day and its ways to celebrate will be here faster than Mom can remind you how fast it all goes.
