Fly Flag

Fly Flag

A photo essay.

The internet doesn’t seem to view America’s flag as one of the world’s most beautiful. But maybe that’s because the internet isn’t comparing the world’s banners under real-world conditions.

Flags are made to fly, and when America’s does, with its 13 high-contrast horizontal stripes—second only to Malaysia’s 14—sighing, stretching, swaying, surging, I’d put it up against anyone’s.

Written and photographed by Dan Mims. The flag here flies at 655 Main Street, East Haven.
