Hailing from Jaffa, a.k.a. Tel Aviv, by way of Berlin, Germany, El Khat bring their sonically seductive “unique Arabic-Yemeni style” and DIY-augmented instruments to Cafe Nine for an 8 p.m. show.

At 6 p.m. in Madison, Books &. Booze at RJ Julia gathers a few of the store’s booksellers for a panel recommending books with “unique plots”—and, I assume, some bottles of wine to share.
The next Twilight Concert at the Pardee-Morris House has R&B, funk and dance band Avenue Groove taking the stage at 6:30, with the grounds opening at 5:30 for extended picnicking.

The next local PechaKucha, featuring quirky but economical presentations of 20 slides shown for 20 seconds each on topics you won’t know unless you go (the theme this time, “Holy Cow!,” is certainly no hint), starts at 7 p.m. at Lost In New Haven, with food and drink available for purchase.

At 7:30 tonight, fans of a certain television brand will want to be at College Street Music Hall, where Hallmark Channel stars Nikki DeLoach, Andrew Walker, Ashley Williams, Jonathan Bennett and Tamera Mowry-Housley will “answer burning questions from fans, tell behind-the-scenes stories, and share a glimpse into their lives when the cameras stop rolling.”
At 8:30, Stella Blues hosts another installment of Beats, Bits & Bytes, this time offering “lo-fi hip hop” in the front, “upbeat dance music” in the back and retro video game consoles throughout.

Up the coast, the Mystic Seaport Museum’s 22nd Annual Sea Glass Festival, starting at 10 a.m. and lasting through tomorrow, offers the chance to “explore work by more than 50 juried artisans, craftspeople, and authors.”
From noon to 5, Armada Brewing harbors Books & Brews, a “literary celebration” featuring local authors, “book-related vendors” and food trucks.
Also from noon to 5, Two Roads Brewing in Stratford celebrates Christmas in July, promising live music, dozens of vendors, photos with Santa and “family-friendly fun.”
At 2, City Gallery hosts an artist reception for Sea Glass: Interpretations of Water, “a colorful and unexpected collection of fiber arts, paintings, and sculpture by member artists Roberta Friedman, Rita Hannafin, Sheila Kaczmarek, and Kathy Kane.”
At 7:30 at Best Video in Hamden, filmmaker David Gutnik holds the first meeting of his new film club, this time screening “a summer-themed French New Wave classic.”

From noon to 4, the next biweekly Sunday Market on the New Haven Green features “local artists, cottage food vendors, local Cityseed Incubator food ventures, crafts and activities for all ages, and more!”
The Pardee-Morris House’s semiquincentennial-celebrating summer marches on at 2 p.m., when Rachel Beauchemin, of the Connecticut Museum of Culture and History, “will share fascinating tales of tavern life” in early Connecticut.
