Monday, February 10
From 7 to 8:30 p.m., the Institute Library hosts “a low-key evening of bridge, for people who know how and people who don’t know anything at all.”

Wednesday, February 12
From 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Guilford’s Nathanael Greene Community Center, the Guilford D.A.Y. (Developmental Assets for Youth) Coalition hosts a Valentine’s Party promising “FREE pizza, Valentine card-making, games, treats, music and tons of fun.”

At 6:30, East Rock Brewing hosts a rom-com-themed trivia night.

Thursday, February 13
From 1 to 4 p.m., the Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce’s 2025 Internship & Career Fair convenes 33 organizations from the Boys & Girls Club of Greater New Haven to Yale New Haven Health. The free event offers attendees a chance to speak directly with potential employers, take professional headshots, receive resume feedback and try stuff from bowl-and-smoothie spot SoBol.

At 6, NXTHVN hosts “a night of sounds by the Connecticut-based, drum-centered, Afro-funk fusion ensemble, The Lost Tribe,” with complimentary wine.

At 7, the Ely Center of Contemporary Art tops off its latest Weird Music Night with a Valentine’s Day costume party. “Expect an eclectic lineup of sound-based projects, art performances, and surprises that embody the Weird Music Night ethos: experimental, unexpected, and unapologetically fun.”

Also at 7, a Galentine’s Comedy Night at Hamden’s Haven Beer Co. features host Peter Vouras, opener Lina Belt and headliner Jim Dailkis.

Friday, February 14 - Valentine’s Day
Starting well before sundown, at 4 p.m., and ending well before midnight, at 10, a Vampires & Witches Masquerade Ball infuses Valentine’s Day with Halloween night, promising “mystery and magic” at East Haven’s Transilvania Restaurant.

From 5 to 8, 9 Squared, the Cambria Hotel’s restaurant and bar, presents Cupid & Cocktails, a “fun & flirty Valentine’s celebration filled with sips, beats, and sweet treats.”

At 7, a Valentine’s Cabaret Night at Jazzy’s Cabaret promises “delicious dinner, live music, and a fabulous variety show” featuring comedy and, later on, burlesque.

Also at 7, Anthony’s Ocean View holds a Valentine’s Dinner Dance featuring a surf and turf dinner, “top-shelf open bar,” “hot and cold hors d’oeuvres” and more, with live music helmed by Timmy Maia.

Alternatively, and likewise starting at 7, Woodbridge’s Birchwoods banquet facility holds a Valentine’s Day Gala with a similarly indulgent all-you-can-eat dinner buffet with “full open bar.”

At 8, Lunar Vacation’s sleepy and occasionally groovy indie rock generates a certain kind of romance at Hamden’s Space Ballroom.

Saturday, February 15
At 2:30 p.m., a Valentine’s Concert at the Unitarian Society of New Haven, which is actually in Hamden, features Silk’n Sounds, an all-female choir whose repertoire, according to the group’s website, ranges from jazz standards to pop hits to Broadway tunes to holiday favorites.

At 7:30 tonight and 2 p.m. tomorrow, expect a very different vocal repertoire at the Shubert Theatre, where “Yale Opera presents a new production of Tchaikovsky’s romantic fairy tale Iolanta. Metropolitan Opera conductor J. David Jackson leads the Yale Philharmonia and an exciting young cast in this lush opera about the transformative power of love.”

At 8, night club 144 Temple hosts a Valentine’s Bash featuring DJs, drinking (with an open bar from 9 to 10) and a “$500 cash prize for best Valentine’s Day outfit.”

At 9, the next Art in the Back…Music in the Front event fills Three Sheets with live music and cat art, with some part of the evening’s proceeds benefiting A Chance for Love Rescue, “whose mission is to rescue abandoned, neglected, and feral cats.”

Sunday, February 16
At 2 p.m., Branford’s Legacy Theatre hosts Tony- and Grammy-winning Broadway star J. Harrison Ghee for an intimate one-person show of “songs and stories.”

With the first bell ringing at 3, BST Wrestling holds a St. Violence Day wrestling event at Hamden’s Devonshire Hall. “Are you finding there’s an overabundance of overpriced chocolates, oversized bears, and just not enough carnage? Let’s give St. Valentine a rest and let St. Violence step in,” organizers say, promising “jaw-dropping action, awe-inspiring feats, and violence you’ll remember forever!”

At 5, Fairhaven Furniture’s next house concert features the “eclectic, immersive and mesmerizing” music of Japanese-born fingerstyle guitarist Hiroya Tsukamoto. “He’s not only a dizzyingly agile fingerpicker, but a soulful and transcendent performer, with compositions that combine instrumental guitar work with lyrical performance and spoken stories from his life.”
