* * *
A gyral seductress appears every summer in New Haven, then suddenly vanishes a few weeks later.
Good thing the traveling Coleman Brothers Carnival is worth being seduced by. Strategically posed here, in clear view of the highway, the whole affair feels designed to part you from your money. And yet the fun of exploring this surreal transitory world of dazzling lights, fast rides, fried foods, slick games and colorful personalities made me feel like I was getting the better end of the bargain.
