Legend has it that the parkโs satellite, Charles Islandโto which you can walk when the tide is low, though itโs (a) a protected bird sanctuary, with access prohibited from May 1 to September 9, and (b) reportedly filled with poison ivyโis where the accused pirate William Kidd of Scotland, a.k.a. Captain Kidd, stashed some treasure circa 1699.
Though many have searched, it seems none have yet found Kiddโs buried booty. You can only hope its seekers didnโt miss the other treasures Silver Sandsโand its neighbor, Walnut Beachโmore freely give.
