If you’re not headed to one of New Haven’s Irish bars, Archie Moore’s or The Trinity—or nearby Duffy’s Tavern, The Playwright or Tommy Sullivan’s—you’ve still got options.
East Haven’s Irish American Community Center promises “fun for the entire family,” serving food “all day” (starting at 9 a.m.) and offering live entertainment from 2 to 8 p.m.
At 6, Elm City Social hosts an Irish Whiskey Dinner, where each of six courses is paired with an Irish whiskey or whiskey cocktail.
At 7 at Best Video, “enjoy a pint and a lively evening of Irish dance tunes featuring fiddles, Irish blackwood flute, whistles, octave mandola, bodhran and banjo” across “memorable songs, haunting airs, and cheerful jigs and reels” performed by Jim and Willow Sirch, Gary Wikfors and Adam Work.
Starting at 8, Oak Haven Table & Bar marks the occasion with a Peaky Blinders-themed party, promising “episodes of the show playing on the TV, all employees dressed up for the occasion, the entire bar decorated like ‘Garrison Pub’ from the show and themed cocktails and shots that bring you back to a different era!”
Also starting at 8, The Regicides improv troupe aims for laughs in Kehler Liddell Gallery, where you can “come right when the doors open to tour our new exhibit, Vanishing ZIMBABWE by PenRod, while enjoying a locally crafted beer.”

Weather allowing, Brooksvale Park’s annual Maple Sugaring Open House runs from 10 a.m. to 2, when “exhibits, artifacts, and a visit to the maple grove and sugar shack will provide an opportunity to understand the process from sap to syrup.” Speaking of which, “a limited supply… of 100% Brooksvale Maple Syrup made at the park will be available… while supplies last.”
A St. Patrick’s Day Dinner Dance keeps yesterday’s party going at St. George Church in Guilford, where, at 6 p.m., a BYOB dinner of “Corned Beef and Cabbage or Vegetarian Shepherd’s Pie” leads to dancing powered by “iHeart Radio personality” John “Cadillac” Saville.
An Ouroboros Story Hour, a.k.a. “a night of unscripted, uncensored, 1st-person stories about using psychedelics & visionary plant medicines for healing,” starts at 7:30 at Centered, PLLC. “Ouroboros Story Hour storytellers cast a curious eye on the full spectrum of experiences rather than evangelizing for the next mental health silver bullet. We offer stories by every day humans, not performers, the messier the better. Storytellers share their equivocal lessons, their leaps forward, their setbacks, their unanswered questions and the occasional deep insight.”

The starter pistol for the 2023 Run For The Shamrock, a four-mile run sponsored by Hamden’s Multisports Academy along the Farmington Canal Trail, fires at 8:30 a.m., with “snacks and other refreshments” (including beer) provided after the race.
