Unless it rains again—and it might—the Beecher Park Summer Concert Series and Hi Fi Pie Contest picks up behind Mitchell Library at 6:30 p.m. The performer this time is Bivolita Klezmer (co-presented with the New Haven Symphony Orchestra), while the pies this time, available by the slice and baked by locals vying for honor and prizes, are “berry” or “savory.”

The Twilight Concert Series outside the 18th-century Pardee-Morris House moves forward at 7 by going back with the Jovial Crew, performing “songs and tunes of the sea, pub, and shore” while “tak[ing] pains to keep to [their] style and tradition.”
Speaking of sea life, a screening of the contemporary classic Finding Nemo can be found in Pitkin Plaza at 8:30.

Featuring “island cocktails and specials” and live music from the Inity Band, the waterfront deck at Joey C’s Boathouse in Stratford hosts its latest Reggae Thursday from 6 to 10.
Four more days and five more performances of Tony Award-winner Pippin, which tells the story of “a young prince on his search for meaning and significance,” kick off at 7:30 tonight at Madison Lyric Stage.
Downtown axe-throwing bar Pine & Iron is calling all “smart-axe”s for a Trivi-Axe night at 8, with registration costing $15 per person. “Players start by answering trivia questions. Then, select throwers from your team [try] to score points on the target. May the sharpest team win!”

From 5 to 10 tonight and noon to 10 tomorrow, the beachside Savin Rock Festival promises “live music, [a] craft fair, food trucks and amusement rides” and games in Old Grove Park at the middle of the Savin Rock boardwalk.
The finale of Yale’s 2022 Summer Carillon Concert Series, which invites the lawn chair- and picnic-toting public into the Branford College courtyard to enjoy special performances ringing out from Harkness Tower above, starts at 7 p.m., with the gate at 74 High Street opening a half an hour earlier.
An all-New Haven bill at The State House sounds great. The music by Glambat, Peäsänt and Minus Points starts sometime after 8.
Saturday, July 30
I’m not sure who was asking for this, but it’s here anyway: Christmas in July. From 10 a.m. to 4, the Shoreline Trolley Museum hosts its first Christmas in July Craft Fair “featuring more than 20 local crafters and artisans” selling giftable “candles, soaps and essential oils, household items, garden decor, pet supplies, seasonal items, jewelry, artwork, and more,” with Santa in the mix for photos with the kids. The trolleys, by the way, are running from 11 to 3.
The New England Taco Festival returns from 11 to 8 on the Guilford Fairgrounds. “Come taste from over 20 taco trucks and get a drink from one of the 2 bars on site.” And “listen to one of the great mariachis, watch the lucha libre shows or take a ride on our mechanical bull.” And “bring the kiddos! We have bouncy houses, donkey rides, face painting, carnival games, caricature artists and they can even take a turn on the bull as well!”
A little way down the coast is the Shoreline Summer Festival at East Haven’s The Beeracks. The “alt rock/emo” celebration promises “music, food trucks, craft beer, art vendors, free merchandise and much more” from 2 to 11.
Meanwhile, local pickle producer Mo Picklz hits the decks at Three Sheets, DJing a 9 p.m. dance party puckishly and presumably puckeringly punctuated by “‘pickle’ & ‘tickle’ shots served with his iconic pickle juice.”
Sunday, July 31
Milford’s Walnut Beach Creamery is celebrating Harry Potter’s birthday. “Be transported to Hogwarts and indulge in Harry Potter-themed flavors, decorations, and contests” between noon and 10.
And it’s back to the Pardee-Morris House at 2, when archaeologists Mary Guillette Harper and Ross Harper present the results of a survey of the house’s grounds complete with found artifacts and contextualizing maps and graphics.
