F estivals, special occasions and cuddly goats start summer off right.

Tuesday, June 21 – Summer Solstice
From 11 to 11, Make Music New Haven, part of global Make Music Day celebrations, spreads free live music by nearly 50 artists and groups to 25 mostly nontraditional venues throughout New Haven and beyond.

Meanwhile, Arts & Ideas enters its final week of tours, talks, rides, meals and shows. The headline acts tonight are a session of PechaKucha (the first since the pandemic) at 7 on the Green and an operatic adaptation of Octavia E. Butler’s Parable of the Sower at 7:30 in the Shubert, which gets an encore tomorrow night.

Wednesday, June 22
A new weekly CitySeed farmers’ market debuts outside the new Q House from 3 to 6, “offering fresh locally grown and produced foods, live music, and activities.”

Thursday, June 23
A Chapel Street Open House event lasts from 4:30 to 7, offering a chance to explore and “celebrate the independently owned businesses that make the Chapel Street Historic District so special,” in part by enjoying “complimentary food and wine tastings” from neighboring restaurants and bars. The Saint Andrew Society’s Italian Festa returns. Four days of food and live music in a carnivalesque atmosphere commence at 5 p.m. today, with an opening parade through Wooster Square at 6.

Friday, June 24
Father’s Day was last weekend, but the First Annual Connecticut Bourbon and Whiskey Festival, at the Knights of Columbus Lodge in Hamden, could provide a great coda. For $55 (including fees), “sample whiskey, spirits, cigars, and single-barrel picks from 20+ Connecticut area retailers, distillers, and distributors,” with a dinner buffet included and a lower price point for designated drivers.

A touring production of Hairspray comes to the Shubert for a five-show stand starting at 8 tonight. “Join 16-year-old Tracy Turnblad in 1960s Baltimore as she sets out to dance her way onto TV’s most popular show. Can a girl with big dreams (and even bigger hair) change the world?”

Saturday, June 25
Branford’s Blackstone Library celebrates 125 years with a Birthday Bash featuring a family storytime at 10:30, a time capsule-sealing ceremony with speakers at noon and a picnic with live music and lawn games from 12:30 to 3.

Also starting at 10:30, Old Bishop Farms in Cheshire hosts a series of hourlong goat snuggles, which are just what they sound like. “Goats are such friendly animals who love people. We suggest you bring a mat or towel to sit on.”

Pinned & Sewtured presents a Puppet Cabaret with musical guest Falconeer at The State House. “Expect the unexpected,” starting at 7.

Sunday, June 26
From 1 to 10 p.m., Art Hoax Fest at East Haven’s The Beeracks “featur[es] musicians, live DJs, delicious food vendors, gems, dance, psychedelic artists, live glass blowing & live painting all while enjoying the in-house brews from Hoax Brewing Company!”
