This Week in New Haven (May 30 – June 5)

P onder all week, party all weekend.

Happy Memorial Day. For official pomp, settle in along parade routes at 10 a.m. in Hamden (from Hamden High School to Hamden Middle School along Dixwell Avenue) or Bethany (from the airport to town hall via Route 63 and Peck Road) or 10:30 in West Haven (along Campbell Avenue).

Tuesday, May 31
Best Video’s founder, Hank Paper, comes out of retirement to host weekly screenings of “5 Great Films You Might Have Missed During the Pandemic—Or Should See Again and Discuss!” First up at 7:15 tonight is Woman at War, “about a woman who longs to adopt a child but instead wages single-handed war against Iceland’s environmentally destructive aluminum industry.” Paper says it “offers one of the cleverest endings of any film,” and the trailer is dynamite.
