At 8, Never Ending Books screens the mid-’90s skit-to-screen gender-bender It’s Pat! and frames the ensuing discussion around a deceptively simple question: “Is it good?”

Tabletop gaming shop Elm City Games hosts Games on the Promenade from 6 to 9 p.m. The promenade in question is the Orange Street Promenade, a seasonal pedestrian-only block between Center and Crown Streets.

The Milford Food Truck Festival at the Connecticut Post Mall spans all of Memorial Day Weekend. Starting today from 11 to 7, “top food trucks and craft vendors from across the state” converge with “entertainment for the kids including bouncy houses, carnival games, train rides, face painting and much much more.”
At 1 p.m. in the Shubert Theatre, New Haven Ballet performs Don Quixote, with its “movement of ruffled skirts and toreador capes flying,” followed by “whimsical,” “neoclassical” Symphonic Nonsense.
At 9, with the sun safely set, The State House and moonlit event producer Sanctuary present Rogues’ Gallery, “a sinister masquerade ball” powered by goth, industrial and darkwave from DJs R.I.C.H.A.R.D. and Azrael. “Dress to impress! Bring your finest mask!”

Connecticut Classic Chevy’s annual Memorial Day Weekend Car Show is back after two years of pandemic cancellations. Happening this time on Quinnipiac University’s York Hill Campus, the show usually features early cars, midcentury cars, sports cars, muscle cars, modified cars and anything else arguably called a classic. With the exception of a “ceremony to honor veterans of all wars” at noon, the timing of the event isn’t entirely clear, though in the past it’s begun at 8 a.m. and finished at 3 in the afternoon.
Two official Memorial Day ceremonies “commemorat[e] the men and women who died while in military service.” First, at 1 p.m., is a wreath-laying at Vietnam Veterans Memorial Park (the subject of a volunteer cleanup one day earlier), followed by another wreath-laying at the World War Memorial Flagpole on the New Haven Green.
