The main events of the second annual Elm City Lit Fest—featuring free “music performances, author talks, dramatic readings, vendors, food trucks and more”—happen on Saturday behind the old Stetson Library (200 Dixwell Ave, New Haven) and Sunday at People Get Ready Books (119 Whalley Ave, New Haven). But the open-bar fundraising parties, for $75 and $45, respectively, happen tonight and tomorrow at 7 p.m. on the roof of the Arts Council (70 Audubon St, New Haven).

From 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Ives Main Library (133 Elm St, New Haven), Elm Community Insight, “an engaged mindfulness community,” leads a “patio meditation to the sounds of the city” to mark the 20th anniversary of 9/11. “Join us for a half-day of meditation, movement, stories, ancestry and devotion.”
From noon to 10 p.m., Tribus Beer Co. (100 Raton Dr, Milford; 203-693-2299) hosts Tribus Fest, an Oktoberfest-style celebration promising “beer, food, live music, games/prizes and much more.” $10 advance tickets ($15 day of) include a starter drink ticket and raffle entry as well as a ceramic beer stein.
A Quinnipiac River Historic District Walking Tour organized by the New Haven Preservation Trust steps off at 1 p.m. Led by activist and Fair Haven Heights resident Patricia Kane and New Haven Museum photo archives director Jason Bischoff-Wurstle, the “tour will cover just under a mile of Quinnipiac Avenue from the Grand Avenue bridge to the Ferry Street bridge, and will highlight features of the working waterfront that link the present to the neighborhood’s maritime past.” Free; registration requested.
Prolific, award-winning, crowd-pleasing TV, film and stage star Patton Oswalt brings his latest standup act to College Street Music Hall (238 College St, New Haven) tonight. Opening the 7:30 show are The El-Salomons, “a married Jewish-Palestinian lesbian comedy couple” who “tell jokes about one another, in front each other.” $35-65, plus fees.

From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., the next Westville Art Market, featuring wares by local artists and makers and a live DJ, pops up on “the new Central Avenue Patio” (between Whalley Avenue and Fountain Street).
The 27th annual Harvest Music Festival at Lyman Orchards (32 Reeds Gap, Middlefield; 860-349-6000) began yesterday and finishes today, lasting from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days. The docket includes live music, food trucks, hayrides, a corn maze, silent auction and, for $20, admission to a craft beer garden. Meanwhile, it’s apple- and peach-picking season, so you can do that too.
