S ummer’s first fever has broken, and the rain that broke it is projected to finish in time for Sunday’s Fourth of July fireworks over East Rock Park.

Three bits of wisdom from experience:

Minibar - Wine, beer and spirits delivered to your door or reserved for pickup

• If you’re watching from the official viewing grounds at Wilbur Cross High School, arrive early. Food trucks and music start at 7 p.m., the fireworks a little after 9.

• Don’t bank on parking anywhere near the school. If you’re half a mile away and parking lanes seem crowded, it’s time to claim that spot. You might not find another, and you might soon find yourself winding slowly, painfully through traffic-jammed blocks of narrow residential streets.

• As organizers have noted, you can see the fireworks “from anywhere you can see the monument atop East Rock Park.” The top level of the Crown Street Garage downtown offers a long, fine view and fun, freewheeling company.

Happy Fourth—
