N ew Haven’s parking garages don’t just have elevators; they are elevators. From their bases, they raise the city’s gaze. From their roofs, they lift its perspective.

The average pedestrian has no better means of getting above the fray. Unlike with most of New Haven’s taller buildings, you don’t need an employee ID or high-rise apartment key to reach the summits of most parking garages. And unlike most rooftops, garages’ are as functional as any other part of the structure. They’re meant to be used.

So go ahead and use them. Elevate yourself, and find a heightened appreciation for the city.
