The gallery’s contents—many of which are loaned from private collections and therefore rarely otherwise seen by the public—are astounding. Some, including a 50 million-year-old fossil slab, are massive. Gazing at their shapes, colors and textures, all bathed in dramatic light and shadow, is enough to reignite the interest many of us had in mineralogy as kids.
It amazes current kids too, of course, but David Friend Hall proves there’s no single stone age.
