Senior city project planner Donna Hall, tasked with project-managing the creation of the boathouse, bottom-lines what this new facility is about: “public access to the harbor,” replete with all the necessities for “kayaking, paddle boarding, canoeing and dragon boating” off New Haven’s under-utilized coast. She also describes a feature-rich facility that’s much more than a boathouse: an expo and conference center, a university laboratory, a wedding venue, a performance stage, a community education resource, a summer campground and maybe many other things besides.

Consider these 29 photographs, then let your imagination warm to the possibilities.
