Be Dazzled

A superb playlist. Whimsical lighting. Eye-popping outfits. Everybody dancing.

Those are the makings of a legendary party. And that’s a good way to describe what’s happening for the next two nights at Lyric Hall, where Escapade: An Unusual Experience gets three stagings.

As it happens, Escapade’s tag line is an understatement. Musical performances, modern dance, aerialist acrobatics and rousing drag shows meet stunning projections to create what director/choreographer/performer Luis Antonio says is a circus-meets-funhouse-meets-abstract time-traveling tribute to “where we come from.” “We” includes nine other performers who are not only very, very good at what they do but were giving it their all at last night’s dress rehearsal, where these photos were taken.

So here’s the rest of the sell: Escapade is high art, and it’s high heart, and it should be high on your list of things to do this weekend.
